Provide design solution to improve social resilience in areas prone to flooding and most vulnerable to disasters like Hurricane Maria and Irma.

How might we prepare the Martin Pena community and help them be more resilient to future floods/hurricanes

Team visited to San juan, Puerto Rico to understand the ground realities.

Martine Pena Community is located in a floodplain and a high-risk zone.

We walked through the floodplain area and conversed with residents to comprehend their distress and challenges in the aftermath of a hurricane.

90% of the community is relocated every hurricane session
We conducted interviews with residents living in flood-prone areas of Martin Pena, and we consolidated the insights gained from these interviews to improve preparedness both before and after hurricanes.
